ABOUT
Our Mission
Pathfinders Forest School was founded in 2018 with a mission to get more children active in the outdoors. Whether it's a forest, the local park or green space, the environment is purely a backdrop to encourage and inspire individuals of any age, to develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning. The Forest School approach is Learner Centred, framing outdoor play within the context of the ever-changing wonders of the seasons. Every day offers participants a different potential challenge in a natural environment. As Forest School is a specialised learning approach that sits within the broader context of outdoor education, sessions can supplement learning within a classroom environment thus providing a causal link between theory and real-life.
Our Ethos
The Pathfinders Forest School ethos also strives to bring the love of nature and outdoors to urban environments, locations where access to forested areas is not so readily available. By leveraging local parks and common green space, Pathfinders aims to ignite the passion for outdoors that exists in all children.
Mark McGuigan
Founder and Forest School Leader
Yes, that's me way too high up a mountain. But the knots I learn from being outdoors come in decidedly handy in Forest School for building shelters, bridges, swings, etc.
Mark McGuigan
Project Manager and Session Planner
That's also me. I am presently a one man army dedicated to getting sessions planned and children active in the great outdoors.

These two monkey's are mischievous and devious - perfect running the marketing department. They have free reign of the budget and get paid a salary that's just bananas!
